From 10,000 to 45,000 in 15 months! Imarika.

In 2013, we started working with the Kilifi Teachers Sacco, which was even at that time the largest Sacco in the coast region of Kenya. At that time, many of the other Saccos in the area were failing under the brunt of bad management. As members of Saccos like Malindi Teachers Sacco withdrew from the failing Saccos, they didn’t have a home to go to and at the same time, they were not really willing to join another town’s Sacco.

The board of Kilifi Teachers Sacco then decided to open their common bond  and to rebrand so that they could usher in new members  – not just from the other teachers saccos but also from the wider coastal community.

We set out to rebrand them using our four-stage process. The result?

With over 45,000 members, Imarika Sacco is now one of the largest saccos in Kenya – covering the entire coastal region from Tana River to Kilifi and Mombasa all the way to the South Coast and Kwale. Here is the Imarika story.
